BOYS U13 2008 CAL SOUTH NATIONAL CUP CHAMPIONS
Mar 09 2008 - BL for BJ
ISC STRIKERS ARE 2008 CAL SOUTH NATIONAL CUP CHAMPIONS!
Congratulations to the ISC Strikers BU-13 winning the Cal South National Cup Championship. The boys played very well throughout the tournament. During the three games of pool play the boys scored a total of 18 goals and did not allow a single goal scored against them beating Necaxa USA, Cypress United and the Celtic Harps.
The Round of 16 proved to be no different when they beat FC Barcelona Blue 3 nil. During the Quarterfinals they played a very skillful team in FC Barcelona Red beating them by the identical score of 3 nil. Then came their first real test in the Semifinals against a very good Chula Vista Rangers team. The Rangers took an early lead scoring 2 nice goals in the first half. However, the boys never quit scoring 3 unanswered goals to beat the Rangers 3-2.
During the Championship game against WCFC the boys came out very strong scoring 2 beautiful goals in the first half. WCFC never recovered and our boys continued to dominate the second half with the final score 2-1 against a good WCFC team. The boys will now travel to Hawaii proudly representing the ISC Strikers at the Far West Regional.
Congratulations again to the players, parents and Coach Juan for a job well done!
GO STRIKERS!!!

ISC STRIKERS GIRLS' MAKE SOCCER AMERICA'S 2008 TOP 25
Jan 31 2008 - BDL
Today Soccer America magazine named the 2008 Top 25 boys' and girls' youth soccer clubs in America. These US Youth Soccer member clubs were named "America's Best Youth Clubs" by the magazine and the common denominator of success was again US Youth Soccer.
Now in its fifth installment, Soccer America selected the top 25 boys and girls clubs, based on success of their teams in national youth competitions over the last three years and national recognition for players from these clubs in 2007. The list was expanded from 20 to 25 in 2008. The most important criteria for determining 'America's Best Youth Clubs' was success in the US Youth Soccer National Championships during a three-year cycle (2005-2007) and the number of players who went on to U.S. Soccer national teams and were selected to US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program All-Star rosters via the annual US Youth Soccer ODP Thanksgiving Interregionals.
"Congratulations to each of the 25 clubs - all of whom are US Youth Soccer member clubs - selected as "America's Best Youth Clubs"" by Soccer America," said Larry Monaco, president of US Youth Soccer. "It's wonderful to see that this publication continues to recognize the work of our coaches, players and administrators. These clubs are honored for their dedication and efforts to the game. Their recognition provides us with another opportunity to be proud of what our clubs, leagues, State Associations and US Youth Soccer are doing to advance soccer and be 'The Game for All Kids'."
"Selecting America's best youth clubs has become very difficult because of the increasing quality we're seeing nationwide," said Paul Kennedy, Managing Editor of Soccer America Magazine. "As a testament to the depth at all levels, we have expanded our rankings from the best 20 to the best 25 boys and girls clubs."
Soccer America selects the top 25 clubs, based on success of their teams in national youth championships over the last three years and national recognition for players (including US Youth Soccer ODP Interregional All-Stars, U.S. national youth team selections and NSCAA/adidas Youth All-Americans and) from these clubs in 2007.

With the launch of the new Development Academy, the U.S. Soccer Federation has taken the initiative in extending its National Team program and putting an emphasis on the development of the player by improving their daily environment.
The Development Academy concept is designed to shift the focus of the young elite player from an ‘overburdened, game emphasis’ model to a ‘meaningful training and competition’ model. The concept was unveiled on June 4 and the response has been unprecedented.
“We are very excited about the excellent roster of clubs that have the desire to change their development environment,” said U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team head coach John Hackworth. “The quality of applications has been outstanding and we are approaching our targeted number of expected slots for the Inaugural Academy Season.”
